Safety & Security
The Houston County School District partners with local law enforcement to continuously evaluate and strengthen our safety and security procedures on all of our school campuses. We conduct safety drills throughout the school year so that all students and staff know what to do in the case of an emergency.
We have spent millions of dollars adding increased safety measures to our facilities, and we will continue to make additional upgrades as recommended by our District safety team and law enforcement partners. Our number one priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff, and we are committed to taking proactive steps to keep our students, teachers, staff and visitors safe.
On August 20, 2026, the district announced plans to purchase metal detection systems as part of continued efforts to strengthen safety and security across the district. The metal detectors will be used at all middle and high schools, as well as stadiums and competition gyms. The district anticipates delivery within approximately four to eight weeks and will use that time to develop procedures, determine placement, and prepare for implementation.
