The Houston County School District’s Finance team, led by Chief Financial Officer Michelle Morris, continues to demonstrate excellence in fiscal responsibility and transparency. The District received a clean, unmodified audit opinion for Fiscal Year 2025 with no findings, reflecting strong financial oversight and sound internal controls. The audit highlighted a healthy fund balance of approximately 17.5 weeks of reserves and an excess of nearly $9.7 million, underscoring effective budget management. In addition, compliance reviews of $52.7 million in federal expenditures and required SPLOST audits confirmed that funds are managed appropriately and in accordance with established guidelines. The Finance team’s diligence and stewardship ensure taxpayer dollars are carefully managed in support of student success.
